Walking Trails

The Porongurup Inn, Shop & Tearooms are a perfect base to stay for a few days and do many of the walks around the Porongurup National Park. We are also only a 30 minute drive to the Stirling Range National Park. The Twin Creeks Conservation Reserve is located less than 10 minutes away by car and is great for a peaceful walk amongst nature especially during wildflower season. Walitj Meil Walk Trail The Walitj Meil (Wedge-tailed eagle) walk trail is a Friends of the Porongurup Range initiative. It is an easy to moderate one kilometre loop walk from Castle Rock picnic area to a point providing scenic views across to the Stirling Ranges. Nancy Peak A great circuit walk, Nancy Peak traverses the main peak of the Porongurup Ranges. As well as the beauty of the moss-covered granite rocks and the lush forest, the views are magnificent with the Stirling Ranges visible to the north and on a clear day, you can see the Southern Ocean. 5.5 Km (loop with walk to Devils Slide) 4 2-3 Hours
Devil's Slide A moderate two hour walk to take you to the highest peak of the Porongurup Ranges. With sweeping views from the summit, to the South over the Indian Ocean on a clear day and Stirling Ranges to the North. 5 Km (return) 4 2 Hours
Granite Skywalk, Castle Rock A marvel of engineering, the two lookouts give spectacular views across the park and undulating farmland to Albany on the south coast, Mt Gardner and Mt Manypeaks to the south-east and the Stirling Range to the north. The two kilometre walk up from the Castle Rock picnic area passes through jarrah, marri and karri forest and by Balancing Rock to reach the base of Castle Rock and the lower lookout. Reaching the upper lookout requires scrambling through and over rocks and climbing a 6 metre ladder. 4.4 Km (return) 5 2-3 Hours
Wansbrough Walk This eight kilometre return hike takes you through towering Karri forest along a gully between Nancy’s Peak and Devil’s Slide. 4 Km (8 Km return) 4 4 Hours
Bolganup Heritage Trail A short and easy 600 metre loop trail beneath the towering Karri trees to Bolganup Creek and return back to Tree-in-the-Rock picnic area. A great option for all the family. 600 metres (loop) 2 30 Minutes
Twin Creeks Conservation Reserve This reserve is owned and maintained by the Friends of the Porongurup Range. The reserve is open to the public for day use, with a sheltered BBQ pavilion and several walk trails. There is limited access to some areas as a result of ongoing revegetation projects and dieback concerns. Access via a closed gate off Knight Road. Please open and close the entry gate when driving in and please use the dieback stations. Great for a peaceful walk amongst nature especially during wildflower season. Trails have been marked with information near the BBQ area and carpark with toilets. Various walks from 2 to 6 Km return 2 As much or little as you want!
